Hygiene Appointments: Choosing Pond Square Dental

In this blog you will discover why our hygiene appointments redefine oral care, with extra touches that prioritise your well-being and smile

At the heart of choosing a dental hygienist lies a simple yet crucial question: Who can you trust to keep your smile radiant and your gums healthy? We'll walk you through why our hygiene appointments deliver the highest quality of oral care.

A whole hour

That's how long our hygienists dedicate to your oral health each time you visit.

Once you're in the chair and feeling relaxed and ready, your hygienist will carry out initial screening/diagnostics for issues such as decay, gum disease and oral cancer and can refer to our in-house specialist team as required. You won't leave your appointment without being provided with a thorough assessment of your overall gum health.

Your hygienist will clean your teeth to get them looking bright and shiny, feeling fresh; we all know it is a great feeling to have just had our teeth cleaned.

You will be offered airflow; this is an innovative pain-free treatment that will not only clean your teeth of stubborn bacteria safely and gently, but it can also remove coffee and tea stains, freshening up how your teeth look.

Not only that but your hygienist will make sure your gums are in good health and stay that way.

There's more...

As well as a comprehensive scale and polish, you will be given a bespoke oral hygiene programme. This will include using disclosing tablets to show you any areas you need to focus on, and advice on brushing and flossing techniques, which your hygienist will demonstrate and observe during your appointment to give you all the support you need in your oral health journey. Our hygienists are all passionate about oral health education. You can find out more about our team here.

Your hygienist will also offer you advice on diet and tooth wear, and recommend the most appropriate products for you. For those patients who want to go green, just let your hygienist know and they will tailor their recommendations.

And you can always them any questions or have a chat with them about anything you'd like to change about your smile... your hygienist can arrange whitening treatment and point you to our specialists if you're considering smile design.

Can I bring my kids in for a hygiene appointment?

Absolutely. Our hygienists love treating kids.

And it's not just about clean teeth and healthy gums. Our hygienists will give you advice when your child's permanent teeth are erupting, and can even discuss preventative measures such as fissure sealants.

What if I'm anxious?

We can help.

Your hygienist will take their time with anxious patients, building in breaks during your treatment and giving you the opportunity to express your concerns. They can also offer you local or topical anaesthetic to help with your experience. If this is not enough, we have other options available, you just need to ask and we can let you know what is possible.

All hygiene treatments are assisted by a nurse for your comfort during the appointment.

Direct Access

You are always welcome to book in for a hygiene appointment with us on a Direct Access basis, even if you are registered with another dentist.
