Khaled Almukhtar is a highly experienced Paediatric Dentist with extensive clinical, hospital and academic training in the care of children and young patients with complex dental and medical needs. He first qualified in Mosul, Iraq in 1994 and completed two years as a Senior House Officer before working for five years as a general dentist in a district hospital in Libya, gaining wide-ranging experience in general dentistry and oral surgery under specialist supervision.

After relocating to London in 2002, Khaled successfully completed the IQE to requalify his overseas degree and began working as a part-time Community Dental Officer at Barts Community Dental Service. There, he treated both adults and children with complex medical histories, special needs and significant dental anxiety. He also worked within the Emergency Dental Service at Barts, managing urgent and trauma-related cases, alongside positions as an associate dentist in multiple London practices.

Khaled was awarded Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS) and the Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practice (MFGDP) from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2007 and 2018. In 2012 he began a Master’s degree in Paediatric Dentistry at Queen Mary University of London, completing his MClinDent in 2015. He later obtained the Membership in Paediatric Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, achieving specialist registration.

Alongside his clinical work, Khaled is a Senior Clinical Lecturer in Paediatric Dentistry at QMUL and holds a postgraduate teaching qualification (PGCAP). He trains both undergraduate and postgraduate dentists and contributes to the development of paediatric dental education.

Khaled’s clinical expertise includes the management of dental trauma, complex restorative and preventive care for children, behaviour management techniques, treatment of anxious patients, management of children with special healthcare needs, pulp therapy, extractions, and emergency dental care.
