Eleni Besi

Eleni Besi is a highly experienced Consultant Oral Surgeon and Senior Lecturer at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry. She qualified with honours from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2010 and went on to complete extensive postgraduate training at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals, the Eastman Dental Institute (UCL), and the Edinburgh Dental Institute. She achieved specialist status in Oral Surgery in 2018 and was appointed as an NHS Consultant immediately afterwards.

Eleni holds a Master’s degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from UCL and a Doctorate in Dental Surgery from the University of Edinburgh, where her research focused on stem cells for bone and nerve regeneration. Alongside her clinical work, she teaches and supervises undergraduate and postgraduate trainees across multiple institutions.

She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and has presented her research nationally and internationally. Eleni also contributes to professional education as an external examiner and has represented respected organisations such as the British Association of Oral Surgeons and the Association of British Academic Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Eleni provides a full scope of Oral Surgery, including complex and wisdom tooth extractions, management of impacted and ectopic teeth, surgical exposure and bonding for orthodontics, implant placement and bone augmentation, cyst management, soft-tissue biopsies, IV sedation, and the management of facial pain.
