Removable & Partial Dentures in a nutshell
Removable prosthetic devices constructed to replace missing teeth
Dentures are devices constructed to replace missing teeth. Dentures are removable, and may be supported by your gums only, by gums and teeth, or by dental implants.
Dentures can be made of acrylic (a type of plastic) only, or metal and acrylic, or metal and porcelain.
Our specialist prosthodontist is trained and experienced in providing dentures in the most complex of circumstances, and will help guide you to the most appropriate denture for you.
Treatment Options
Dentures, be it replacing some or all of your teeth, can be difficult to get accustomed to. In some circumstances, perhaps a very strong gagging reflex or other physical restrictions, dentures do not grip well. This makes it difficult to eat, talk, or perhaps even smile.
Or you may have a hobby or job that requires movements of your mouth and lips (like actors and musicians) that destabilizes dentures.
By placing one or several implants into strategic parts of the jaw, and attaching custom made connectors, dentures can clip into implants, instantly resolving many of the problems associated with dentures.

These are usually used to replace one or several missing teeth where you still have some of your own teeth.
In some cases they are used as long term replacement teeth, sometimes as temporary teeth, and at other times as a guide to other more complex treatments.
Dentures can be very effective when designed correctly, allowing teeth to be placed in positions that would not be possible with a bridge or an implant.
Metal frames can make the denture or dentures more lightweight, stronger, and have more grip.
